On Saturday, March 8, Bruin Football Freshman Coach Bob Fitzpatrick was inducted into the Northern Virginia Football Hall of Fame! Prior to joining the Bruin Football staff, Coach Fitzpatrick served many years as a Commissioner/Coach for Braddock Road Youth Club. Congratulations, Coach Fitzpatrick and family on an achievement well-deserved!On Saturday, March 8, the Northern Virginia Football Hall of Fame hosted their 30th annual awards banquet. There, Bruin Football 2020 Senior Matt Hibner was one of 6 NoVa players to be named Player of the Year. Other players honored include South County's QB Matt Dzierski (Christopher Newport) and DL Haris Khan (Towson, MD), Westfield QB Noah Kim (Michigan State), T.C. Williams DB Robert Longerbeam (Rutgers, NJ ), and Yorktown DL John Pius (William & Mary). Congratulations, Matt & family! Additionally, 2024 rising freshman Micah Neese (Braddock Road Youth Club) was also honored by the Hall of Fame! He was named a Youth Football Player of the Year. Congratulations, Micah & family! NBC Sports Washington recently announced its inaugural All-DMV High School Football Team, recognizing the DMV's top student-athletes during the 2019 season. The selections were determined by NBC Sports Washington's editorial staff that covers high school sports throughout the region. Congratulations to outgoing senior Matt Hibner (First Team) and rising Senior Billy Edwards (Honorable Mention) for being recognized!
On February 5, two 2020 Bruins made their college choices official and signed to play at the next level for schools to whom they had previously given their verbal commitment. Defensive Tackle Zach Kongolo signed to play at Salisbury (MD) University and Running Back Joe Murray inked to the College of William and Mary. The two standout players celebrated with their coaches and teammates in a short ceremony after school on Wednesday.Kongolo and Murray join fellow 2020 Bruin Tight End Matt Hibner as official next level signees. Hibner signed his National Letter of Intent to the University of Michigan during the "early" December signing window.Best of luck, boys! We are very proud of you and know you will represent yourselves, families, and Lake Braddock well!On his campus visit today, Bruin Football graduating senior defensive tackle Zach Kongolo made his verbal commitment to continue his football career at Salisbury University. The 2nd Team All-Occoquan Region selection had a standout season for the Bruins, racking up 12 sacks and 27 tackles for loss in a senior campaign highlighted by a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown against Hayfield, but was cut short due to injury. Congrats, Zach and family!
After his record-setting senior rushing campaign, Bruin Football graduating senior Joe Murray has committed to play football for William & Mary! Also a state champion wrestler, Murray committed to the Tribe on January 26 while on his official visit. Congratulations, Joe and family!
Under the bright lights at AT&T Stadium--home of the Dallas Cowboys--Bruin Football graduating senior and Michigan signee Matt Hibner hauled in a 1st quarter 19 yd touchdown pass from 3 star Iowa signee Deuce Hogan, then took a flat route from 4 star Vanderbilt early enrollee Ken Seals 20 yds to the house in the 2nd quarter. The USA Under-19 National Team defeated Panama 67-0. |
